Surface engineering for demanding service

Hard Chrome & HVOF Coating Services

Protect high-pressure industrial components against sliding wear, silica erosion and demanding operating conditions. PartsMake provides coating, precision grinding and finish machining for heavy-duty hydraulic equipment, valve trim and downhole tools across the GCC.

From hydraulic cylinder rods in heavy engineering machinery to high-pressure wellhead and blowout preventer valve components, we help match the coating to the component’s load, movement and exposure.

Hard chrome or HVOF?

The right surface treatment depends on contact conditions, load-bearing needs and environmental exposure. Compare the primary use cases, then review the specification data below.

For precision sliding interfaces

Electrolytic hard chrome provides a uniform, wear-resistant surface for applications where low friction and dimensional accuracy matter. It is suited to hydraulic rod and actuator surfaces, including humid coastal service where oxidation resistance is important.

Consider for: hydraulic cylinder rods, sliding interfaces and components with controlled adhesive wear.

For fretting, sliding or impact-related wear, coating selection should be based on the component’s movement, contact load and service environment. Share these details for an application-specific recommendation.

Repair through finishing

Precision machining, prepared and finished in-house

Coating performance starts with the substrate. We manage the workflow in-house, including precision cylindrical grinding to achieve the specified surface profile (Ra) before application and consistent coating thickness across the component geometry.

After coating, finish grinding or super-finishing brings the component to the tolerance required for dynamic seal performance. One coordinated workflow reduces part-hopping between vendors and can shorten total lead time by 15–20 days.

  1. 01

    Assess and prepare

Review the component, operating conditions and drawing; prepare the substrate and establish the required surface profile.

  2. 02

    Apply the selected coating

Apply hard chrome or HVOF coating in line with the component’s wear conditions and dimensional requirements.

  3. 03

    Finish, verify and dispatch

Grind or super-finish to the required tolerance, complete quality checks and coordinate delivery to your site or yard.

Quality assurance

Traceable checks at each stage

For components supplied into demanding regional industries, documented verification supports review against project and operator requirements.

Thickness verification

Eddy current or magnetic induction testing to check coating thickness and uniformity.

Adhesion testing

ASTM-compliant bond strength verification for coating adhesion requirements.

Surface roughness

Profilometer reports to confirm the finish is compatible with seal performance.

Material traceability

EN 10204 3.1 certificates for the base material and coating alloy.

Maintenance and retrofit support

Help reduce downtime across the GCC

Downtime in energy and water desalination operations can make repair lead time critical. High-capacity grinding centres and automated spray booths support the processing of large valve components and hydraulic rods.

Integrated fabrication and coating capabilities enable delivery of finished, ready-to-install components to sites and yards in the Eastern Province, JAFZA and industrial zones across the GCC. Logistics and customs documentation can also be coordinated to help avoid transit delays.
