PTFE & PVDF precision machining

High-purity fluoropolymer components, machined for demanding service

PartsMake supplies precision-machined PTFE and PVDF parts for seawater desalination trains and chemical dosing systems across the GCC. Controlled cutting and inspection help maintain sealing performance in concentrated acids, chloride environments and elevated-temperature service.

PTFE diaphragms, PVDF manifolds, valve cores and sealing components produced from rod or plate stock.

Process control

Manage heat before it affects the part

PTFE can creep when local cutting temperatures exceed 120 °C. PVDF is less sensitive, but thin sections can still distort as heat builds. Spindle speed and coolant strategy are set to keep the cutting zone below the material’s relevant transition threshold.

Carbide inserts with positive rake and polished flanks reduce friction and built-up edge, helping maintain a sharp cutting edge across longer runs.

Operation Machining approach Control point
PTFE diaphragms Five-axis mill-turn, through-tool emulsion at 8 °C; blanks up to 420 mm diameter. Roughing depth under 0.8 mm at 120 m/min; 0.15 mm finishing cuts produce seal lands at Ra 0.4 µm without secondary polishing.
PVDF valve cores and manifolds Gantry milling of blocks up to 1,200 × 1,000 × 800 mm. 16 mm carbide roughing at 80 m/min, followed by reduced-feed finishing with 6 mm ball cutters.
Seal faces and plug seats Final pass using a single-crystal diamond insert. 0.05 mm depth forms a controlled micro-groove pattern for sealing contact.

Applications

Designed around critical fluid-handling components

From desalination dosing systems to high-purity acid lines, component geometry and finish are matched to the assembly and operating conditions.

01 / Dosing

PTFE pump diaphragms

Precision seal lands support direct fitment in metering pumps supplied to Yanbu and Jubail SWRO plants, where leakage can lead to daily output losses and regional contract penalties.

02 / Acid service

High-sealing gaskets and valve plugs

Controlled knife-edge finishing supports compression-set performance below 12% after 2,000 hours at 80 °C in 20% HCl.

03 / High purity

PVDF cores and manifold blocks

Internal passages, plug seats and stem bores are machined for high-purity acid lines where metallic ion contamination is unacceptable.

Verification & documentation

Measured, documented and ready for regional delivery

Critical geometry and sealing surfaces are verified under controlled conditions. Each shipment is prepared with the records required to support contractor review and regional delivery.

  • Dimensional inspection: 20 °C ±0.5 °C inspection rooms, Zeiss PRISMO CMM verification and ±0.025 mm tolerances on critical seal diameters.
  • Surface and leak checks: Stylus profilometers calibrated to ISO 4287, 100% CMM scanning and helium leak testing to 1 × 10⁻⁶ mbar·l/s before release.
  • Batch evidence: EN 10204 3.1 certificates and material-lot traceability; batch samples undergo 1,000-hour ASTM B117 salt-spray exposure with no visible degradation.
  • Regional dispatch: PMI reports, CMM data books and pressure-test records, with SABER and SASO compliance documentation prepared for DDP delivery to Dammam, Abu Dhabi or Doha yards.

Supply for GCC projects

Contractors fabricating chemical injection skids in JAFZA and Musaffah can pair Super Duplex pump bodies with machined PTFE diaphragms and PVDF manifolds. Parts are cut from rod or plate stock held in inventory, avoiding the 18-week lead times typical of European fluoropolymer moulders.

Neutral packaging with laser-etched part numbers supports free-zone stockist requirements.
